Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book provides a glimpse into the experiences of an individual soldier in the trenches during World War I. It starts with the character's recruitment and takes the reader through the monotony of training, the camaraderie shared with fellow soldiers, and the horrors of army life in the unforgiving conditions of war. The war is depicted in a manner that contrasts the author's youthful enthusiasm and spirit of adventure with the stark reality and mundanity of life in the trenches. The author's account captures the boredom, fear, and struggle for comfort and normalcy of those involved in the conflict. His vivid portrayal of the war experience offers insights into the depth of human endurance and the spectrum of emotions faced amidst the brutality of war. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781333619817_0

Hardcover. Etat : Good. 1st Edition. Rutter, Owen. The song of Tiadatha / by Captain Owen Rutter ('Klip Klip'). First issue in Great Britain. London: T. Fisher Unwin Ltd., 1920 (first published in Salonica, 1919). Hardback, Good, no dustjacket. Red cloth, bumped to corners, with colour fading to spie and elsewhere, some mottling and a few marks. Binding strong. Light tanning to endpapers. 1920 gift inscription to ffep. 144pp. Light foxing to final page of text and the edges of the page block, otherwise contents clean and bright. The Song of Tiadatha recounts the adventures of a fictional young subaltern during WWI both on the Western and Macedonian Fronts. The journey parallels the war experiences of Rutter himself who served as an officer in the Wiltshire Regiment in the B.S.F (British Salonika Force). has been described as "one of the masterpieces of Great War verse." At some 140 pages it can also be considered one of the few epics, along with David Jones's In Parenthesis, to come out of the war. Particularly interesting is that Rutter chose an unusual verse form (technically known as trochaic tetrameter) to tell his story of Tired Arthur. This is the same poetic meter Longfellow used in his memorable telling of American Indian legends in his Song of Hiawatha. RightWayUp Books aims to provide accurate and detailed descriptions.
