This Festschrift for Giovanni-Battista Lanfranchi honours his broad and expansive interest in the Ancient Near East, which is reflected in the diverse contributions of his pupils and colleagues. Lanfranchi is an interdisciplinary scholar par excellence and has done significant work across a range of different disciplines. Embracing an approach that is historical as well as philological, Lanfranchi has addressed various historical issues with confidence and dealt competently with detailed source problems. In line with Lanfranchi's own extensive accomplishments, the 44 articles in this volume - written in English, German and Italian - deal with subjects covering vast expanses of time and space, from East to West and from the 3rd Millennium to the 1st Millennium.
