Synopsis
Based in London, emerging He.Lo is a highly experimental and dynamic team of architects, which aims to explore and defy cities/architecture boundaries with original forms of expression and provocative views. He.Los essay to Spatial Murmuring is of a visual nature and includes nine large scale illustrations in the form of classical black ink hand drawings. As architecture, cities and society inform and adapt to each other, He.Lo are embracing new adjacencies, spatially and functionally. The grain of different cities, varying scales and projects are put together in a new and provocative proximity. The locations span the globe and range from Ho Chi Min to Winnipeg, from Alaska to Cairo and combine concepts, works, competitions of the last 10 years. The fine lines and objects migrate from page to page, reminiscent of musical scores for an orchestra, only interrupted by the essays.
À propos de l?auteur
Sónia Nunes Henriques and Jan-Maurits Loecke are London based architects, originally from Lisbon and Cologne, who founded He.Lo Architects in 2002. They have worked with Jean Nouvel in Paris, with Enric Miralles + Benedetta Tagliabue, and Alfredo Arribas in Barcelona, and with John McAslan, Farrell s and RTKL in London. Funded by the German Research Foundation, Jan-Maurits Loecke was involved in RWTH Aachen survey projects in the Himalayan Region of Ladakh. He was, until recently, guest critic at the Architectural Association. With their original forms of expression and provocative views, He.Lo Architects are driven by a passion to explore and defy the set boundaries of cities and architecture. They accentuate sites, not only as a repository of meaning, but also by calling attention to the edge of the space in the belief that every part of it is meaningful, should be reachable and not neglected. They have been featured in group shows in Cologne, Los Angeles, and Bedburg Hau, and have recently been invited to exhibit by ArToll Summer Lab and Aedes Gallery in Berlin. Their work has been selected for the Royal Academy 2012 Summer Exhibition in London.
