It follows Hope, a young woman who lives in St. Michaels, Maryland, in 1813. The town still shudders with the effects and threats of war from the British. Struggling with grief after typhoid claims her mom and siblings, Hope crosses paths with the Piscataway-English worker, Jacob, whom her father hires to work in the family shipyard. Caught off guard by the comfort, safety, and love his presence offers, a unique relationship ignites. Jacob binds their two souls together in an ancient Native American ritual, pledging always to return to her in this life or the next.
But Hope's father plans for her to marry Simon, a greedy local whose only intention in marrying Hope is to gain ownership of the family's prosperous shipyard. Jacob gains favor and status when he proposes a plan to save their small town from an impending attack by the British. The city famously fools the British by hanging lanterns in the trees, diverting all enemy fire overhead, and missing the town completely.
Overcome with jealousy, Simon plots to have Jacob killed, and Hope's Father blackmailed, hoping that her father will have no choice but to demand that she marry Simon to save his and the shipyard's reputation.
Will Jacob and Hope's love prove strong enough to break through their time's deep-rooted racial norms and societal expectations? Or will they be forced to break apart?

Hello reader, My books are all about historical events that took place in the Chesapeake Bay and the surrounding areas. To ensure the authenticity of my writing, I devote lots of time to researching and exploring all of the locations mentioned in my books. Each place has its amazing history and atmosphere, and I try to capture some of that through my writing stories. I really hope that when you read my books, you feel like you've been transported back in time to the beautiful shores of the Chesapeake. My hope for you is that you experience a way of life that's full of history, heartache, and love.
My own love story unfolded on the bay. I fell in love with my soulmate on the eastern shores of Maryland, among the sights and sounds of the Chesapeake and Atlantic Ocean. He was a divorced father of four girls, and I was a divorced mom of two boys and one girl. Our connection was unlike anything either of us had experienced; we like to imagine that our souls must have recognized each other from a past life and set out on a search to find one another. We quickly fell head over heels for each other and blended our families, as we said forever on the shore of the Chesapeake Bay.

We ask all customers to contact us for authorisation should they wish to return their order. Orders returned without authorisation may not be credited.
If you wish to return, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order to obtain authorisation.
Returns requested beyond this time will not be authorised.
Our team will provide full instructions on how to return your order and once received our returns department will process your refund.
