A mad man holds an entire wedding hostage and dances with all the guests. An old assassin wonders why no one's killed him yet. Siblings bring a little boy delicious treats hiding dark secrets. Talking to spirits makes some people tired. And a government official mismanages COVID-19 palliative funds.
In March 2020, a big fuss began over a dangerous little thing called a virus that flipped many nice things sideways and through the window. A dozen writers trapped in their homes got really bored and had the idea to write all the excitement and fun they weren't having into tight, sweet packets of 500 words a piece. They wrote 74 of them! 40 were really good…
The Story Tree Challenge Maiden Anthology puts a bunch of interesting characters in a wild and interesting universe (more like a multiverse, but we're pretending that the timeline of events makes sense) and lets them live their lives.
What happens when different writers tell stories that collide with one another?
When they create characters that bump into each other (and do more than just bump)?
When about a dozen writers take one world, or several similar variations of said world, and have a number of characters meet and love, and hate and scheme and kill each other in seventy-four stories, magic is born. We have taken the best of that magic and put it in this book. Forty very short stories find their place in a loosely organized world with one governing principle: every story is tied to the other by a character(s).
This is The Story Tree Challenge Maiden Anthology.
Lose yourself as you will.
