Synopsis
Drawing on the 'varieties of excellence' evident in best practice institutions, "Strategic Management of Technology Transfer" explores the structures, activities and mechanisms for technology transfer, while reviewing conditioning factors that shape the parameters of technology transfer initiatives. The final chapter presents a framework to guide the strategic management of technology transfer. The book addresses specific issues in terms of developing a strategic approach to university technology transfer drawing on national and international best practice cases. In particular, the authors outline how to approach university technology transfer strategically by highlighting some relevant contextual issues including: activities of TTOs / ILOs, organisational structures, staffing skills and resources, policy and procedures, mechanisms for technology transfer and evaluation and performance metrics.
