During the Battle of the Bulge he joined the Liege edition of The Star and Stripes, served with both the first and second Pfungstadt editions, and is now an associate editor of Weekend Magazine. HOWARD joined the Paris staff of The Stars and Stripes in 1945, having followed the paper during the war as a buck sergeant with the 71st Infantry Division. He join- ed the Pfungstadt staff that year and is now an associate editor of Weekend Magazine.
