This monograph presents the English edition of the fifth volume of Recent Cultural Heritage Issues in Afghanistan, documenting ongoing international efforts to conserve the Bamiyan site following the destruction of the Giant Buddhas in 2001. Led by Japanese, German, and Italian specialists under UNESCO coordination, the project includes mural conservation and detailed archaeological surveys of the Buddhist caves. The volume highlights Japan’s contributions to safeguarding global heritage through fieldwork, documentation, and architectural analysis.
