"For decades following my first view of Longs Peak in 1991, I would enjoy small hiking excursions on the mountain below altitudes of 11,500

feet. Twenty-seven years after first beholding this beautiful, massive rock hovering over and miniaturizing most everything in its shadow, everything

changed. The 14,259 foot summit seem to be calling out to me. Twenty-seven years before my summit of Longs Peak, a little baby girl was born. Her name, Amanda. The year Amanda was born, I made my first mountain hike through the shadows of Longs Peak. Twenty-seven years later, Amanda would lead me to the summit. Does it not seem odd that I have never had the least bit of interest, or even a passing thought of climbing to the summit during the previous 27 years? Was God preparing Amanda; thus, sheltering my mind from the thought of climbing?"

À propos de l?auteur

Born in Montana and raised in Oklahoma, Robin is married to the girl that told her friends in 4th grade that she would marry him. They both attended the same schools through Junior College; however, their first date was not until Robin's Senior High Prom. After working in the financial industry for 26 years, Robin retired in 2006. Robin and his wife, Debbie, live in Ponca City, Oklahoma, where they serve and worship at Central Baptist Church. Robin enjoys hiking and Debbie enjoys antiquing in the Rockies of Colorado. They have been vacationing in the Estes Park community over the past 30 years.
