YOU ARE NO LONGER THE ONE READING THE TEXT.

Every day, millions turn to artificial intelligence to explain Scripture, answer spiritual questions, and interpret religious truth. The responses are fast, confident—and increasingly trusted.

But a deeper question is emerging:

Who now gives the meaning—and can you trust it?

Synthetic Levites exposes a quiet but radical shift: the redistribution of religious authority from human interpreters to generative systems. What once belonged to prophets, priests, pastors, teachers, and theologians is now increasingly mediated by algorithms—systems that interpret, summarize, and instruct without accountability, embodiment, or tradition.

This is not a rejection of technology. It is a confrontation with what happens when interpretation itself is outsourced.

Drawing from Scripture, theological tradition, and an Orthodox Christian vision of embodied faith, this book explores how AI is reshaping the reading of Scripture, why disembodied authority is spiritually dangerous, and what the Church must recover in an age of synthetic mediation.

For centuries, the question was simple: How do you read? (Luke 10:26)

Earlier still: Have you not read? (Matthew 12:3, 19:4)

Now, a new question presses in:

Who is reading for you?

And who is forming you?

Synthetic Levites is for readers interested in AI and religion, pastors, theologians, seminarians, Christians navigating faith in a digital age, and anyone asking where authority comes from in a world of intelligent machines.
