Lightly soiled, else a near fine copy. With two frontispieces and 25 plates. A study of the first books printed in various places in Europe and England. Hawkins was a prolific collector of rare books whose goal was to collect a copy of the first book printed in each of the 238 places where printing existed before 1500.
