This book is a Japanese novel, considered one of the world's first novels, written by Lady Murasaki Shikibu in the 11th century. The phrase "A Novel in Four Parts" refers to a specific edition, like this one translated by Arthur Waley, which organized the original 54 chapters into the four parts previously mentioned. The book follows the life of the fictional Prince Hikaru Genji and the courtly world of his time, exploring themes of love, politics, and spirituality. A clean very presentable copy.
