Hardcover. Etat : Good. 1st Edition. Complete with all 22 tipped in raised plate full page illustrations by Willy Pogany, of which 12 are colour and 10 are grey, as called for. Binding is solid. The binding has been strengthened at the hinges by an experienced book restorer, but small closed split at rear, Gilt illustrated front board and spine faded. Free endpapers have light water stains. Outer leaves slightly foxed but most leaves very clean. Text complete and with further profuse illustration by Pogany. HC small quarto bound in publisher's black cloth with decorative pictorial design and titles to cover and spine in gilt. Printed by Pillans & Wilson, Edinburgh. Early reissue, in a binding style more often encountered in the Brentano's imprint and printed on standard cream paper stock rather than the heavier toned leaves seen in earlier Harrap issue/s). Lushly illustrated with 12 color and 10 black-and-white tipped-in plates, along with numerous full-page and partial-page black-and-white illustrations. Each page enclosed within decorative borders from Pogány designs. Cloth lightly rubbed at spine ends and corner tips. Light to moderate toning to endpages.
