Ryuijie, born in 1950 in Otaru, Japan, is a Japanese-American fine art photographer known for his black-and-white platinum and palladium prints. He moved to the United States as a child and later settled on the Monterey Peninsula in California, where he developed his career after being inspired by Jerry Uelsmann's work. Over several decades he has become recognized for his minimalist style and mastery of alternative photographic processes, exhibiting widely and producing several monographs and portfolios featuring landscapes, botanicals, still lifes, and figure studies.
