Seven of the eight volumes (not vol. VII) of Livy's famous history of Rome from its earliest beginnings. The information (below and elsewhere in this listing) generally refers to Volume I; unless stated otherwise. This is on the basis that it is more or less indicative of the whole set. (NB Volume I includes a Preface). Further information, publisher details, pagination, photos etc about the other volumes is of course available on request. Raised bands along the spine. Gilt title and volume number on a red and black background label respectively; located towards the head of the spine. (Red title label for volumes, II, IV, V & VIII have either fully or partially faded - see main image). The boards are rubbed in places with bending at some of the corners. Tight binding. Internally, the pages are mild to moderately tanned with occasional spotting (vol VIII is the worst offender - image). On the whole, the text remains clear and crisp and is elegantly set out. pp. xii, 370/18mo. The front paste down (Vol I) has some annotations in pencil (again see image - the others: much less).
