Harriet Adams re-launched the Tom Swift concept in 1954, based on the original series co-written by her father Edward Stratemeyer, and Howard Garis. Although she was heavily involved in rewriting the Nancy Drew & Hardy Boys titles removing some of the more offensive racial overtones of the original printings, they launched an entirely new science fiction series, drawing on three PhD scientific consultants, sparking the imaginations and efforts of Steve Wozniak of Apple Computer, Jack Cover who invented the Taser, and resonating with Robert Heinlein and Isaac Asimov.
