A propos de cet article

Celebrated work by Thomas Reid, the famous Edinburgh clock and watch maker. The book is a foundational text in the field of horology.  The book, an instructional manual for apprentices, ran to six editions.  It describes in detail the history of clock making and the complex mathematics involved in the design of the parts, not only of ordinary watches and clocks but of astronomical and musical variants.  ca.1844-1846 second edition. Spine damaged. Hinge slightly foxed and loose. Some pages are tape-mended or annotated.
