Pulitzer Prize-winning (for novel "So Big," 1924) American novelist and short story writer, often remembered for "Giant" (1952); wrote "Show Boat" with George S. Kaufman. TNS, 1p, 6" X 7", New York, NY, 1953 May 1. Addressed to Frances F. Nielsen. Near fine. Single faint horizontal fold. On imprinted "E. Ferber" letterhead, Ferber writes this Chicago literary lady "My thanks for thinking of me in connection with the luncheon to be given in honor of Fanny Butcher. I am one of the many who love and admire her and I wish I could accept your invitation to be one of those at the Speakers Table." Large bold signature in black ink.
