Disbound. Etat : Good binding. First Edition. Octavo. [1]-32, [4], 33-70 pp. Self-styled, "The First American, from the Twenty-Fourth London Edition." Removed from volume. Minor wear to the title page with occasional dog-earing throughout; minor foxing/toning. This copy with an inserted bifolium "D2" with 4 unnumbered pages that appear to complete the text?not called for by Evans, but clearly essential. In it, Erskine criticized the Pitt ministry and alerts "the nation to the blindness and obstinacy with which [the war with France] was pursued; in spite of a series of the most favourable opportunities to terminate it. . . ." While London imprints are plentiful, American imprints are less available, particularly this New York imprint declaring itself the "First American edition." Evans 32096. ESTC W2443.
