Both books are Oxford editions from the early 20th C, though they appear undated (the editor was Prof of Eng. Lit at Cambridge in about the 1930s). They have copies of the 19th C cartoons produced for the 2 vol versions of each book in their early pages. While not as well known as Vanity Fair, these novels are still a pleasure to read.Green leather covers with gilt lettering and decoration, and mock ribbing, on the spines; both have wear especially along the edges, and Pendennis has a faded spine. Binding is holding well; Virginians appears to have been opened more often; gilt page edges at the top. Endpapers have some browning, but the texts appear clan. Oddly, Virginians has rather crinkly.
