A work in progress for the aspiring hospitality employee who wishes to begin the amazing journey into wine. This text accompanies the American Sommelier course work which exposes students to the elements, literally, which come to bear on why a specific wine tastes the way it does. The book is divided up by country then region and walks readers through the vineyards explaining how soil, slope, sunshine and precipitation and the wine maker impact a wines' style.

Andrew Bell is a leader in the wine education industry for the past 30 years. Bell created American Sommelier with a group of like minded individuals in the late 1990's and has shepherded the curriculum for the past 20 years, creating courses to meet the needs of the young aspiring wine professional. Many people took part in this ongoing text, without whom this effort would not have succeeded.
