Two-volume set, as photographed; 2nd impression, published in the same year as the first edition with same binding, formatting, pagination etc.; Vol I: xx + 556 + 93 pls [i.e. photogravure frontispiece from an E A Wilson painting, + 7 watercolour paintings by Wilson +1 double-page with 2 panoramas + 84 single-page pls], with 16 in-text illustrations +3 maps, 1 double-pg, 1 folding in rear paste-down pocket. Volume 2: xii + 508 pages + 93 pls [i.e. photogravure frontispiece , 6 watercolour paintings by Wilson, 4 double-page with 8 panoramas + 82 single-page] +2 maps,1 folding in rear paste-down pocket. Private ownership. Dark blue cloth, gilt spine lettering, gilt medallions to front bds, top edges gilt; gift inscription (Xmas 1905) to Sir Andrew Noble (Ardmore, Dunbartonshire) from his wife on vol I ffep, Noble's bookplate and case/shelf label to both front paste-downs; slight foxing to text-block front edges and to vol I contents pages; in general unmarked and clean throughout; a handful of lightly sprung pages, as photographed in vol I - pp.352-3, but binding remains firm.
