Lozano Jr., began working at La Opinión. It was in 1953, while on a visit to Los Angeles, that the senior Lozano passed away. Upon his passing, Lozano Jr. assumed the role of Publisher of La Opinión, while his mother, Alicia Elizondo de Lozano, continued on in San Antonio, overseeing La Prensa for another 6 years.
