A propos de cet article

Pamphlet measuring 8 1/4 x 3 3/4 inches (210 x 96 mm), 15, [1] pages, in printed self-wrappers. with three additional sheets laid in. Rare pamphlet opposing a bill by Senator Robert Wagner of New York to give states the right to establish compulsory health insurance. The American Medical Association strongly opposed the bill, which died in committee. The pamphlet reprints an article by Samuel B. Pettengill, a former Indiana congressman, who opposed the Wagner bill. "Under our system of free enterprise in medicine we have by all odds the best health record of any great nation in the world," he writes. The National Committee to Uphold Constitutional Government, the organization issuing this pamphlet, opposed many of President Roosevelt's economic and social policies and his attempt to enlarge the Supreme Court. Pettengill was the national chairman. Laid in to this pamphlet are three single sheets detailing the committee's position on various issues, mostly related to giving more power to Congress in order to thwart FDR. The committee felt that Congress had surrendered too many powers to the president. This pamphlet is rare. OCLC shows no institutional holdings. None in commerce (June 2021).CONDITION: A bit of edge wear and toning but overall Near Fine.…
