Sol Neelman is surely one of the most unusual sports photographers in America: he has a passion for offbeat sports people play in their spare time, which he subsumes them under the blanket label 'Weird Sports'. One thing is especially important to Neelman: to convey the fun the players are having - outfitting themselves, playing, and being watched. During his former career as a professional sports journalist, he encountered mostly the earnestness, ambition, and commercialization that are the distinguishing features of today's world of pro sports.
