Présentation de l'éditeur: Wars have occurred throughout history, in all parts of the world and they still happen. Despite the hardship and suffering of wartime, children often find ways to see beauty and hope - in the natural world, in the love of family and friends and in the ordinary activities of childhood. Through these graceful and eloquent poems, written from the child's perspective, readers will experience this resilience, this optimism and understand that it's possible to get through difficult and unsettling times while holding onto one's hopes and dreams.

Hardcover. Unpaginated, about forty pages, fullpage color illustration throughout, not always with text (Greenfield writes in simple blank verse). Hardbound in 9x11 inch oblong laminated boards decorated in color and enclosed in the dust jacket. An excellent copy, really as-new: perfectly sound, clean and unmarked. The African American author was born in Parmele, North Carolina, grew up in DC. Children's point of view throughout world history, featuring various ethnologies, from ancient times (sixth century is specified as 'ancient') to US gunships in Vietnam. Not too excplicit, but of course violence is implied, not least in the faces we're shown of adult survivors. N° de réf. du vendeur 327641
