A propos de cet article

VERY GOOD, Reprint of the 1937 ed. published by Macmillan, No dust jacket. Clean with no marks. Binding is tight and square. xviii, 817 pages, 8 unnumbered leaves of plates : illustrations ; 24 cm. . . . . . . A full-length biography of General Winfield Scott, reissued by Arno Press in 1979 as part of its military history reprint program. It is an in-depth, heavily documented narrative that follows Scott's entire military and political career from the War of 1812 through the Mexican War and into the early Civil War era. It appears frequently in bibliographies on the Mexican War, early U.S. Army professionalization, and Union high command, which suggests that, while dated in some judgments, it remains a substantial reference for Scott's life and career.…
