Rare original 1876 copy of "The Woman in Battle: A Narrative of the Exploits, Adventures, and Travels of Madame Loreta Janeta Velazquez, otherwise known as Lieutenant Harry T. Buford, Confederate States Army." In the book Velazquez claims to have fought in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War after disguising herself as a male soldier. The book wasn't received very well by many people upon publication. Some people declared the work to be a complete fabrication and there is still some skepticism among scholars today. The book is overall in good condition with some signs of wear and age. The covers have some mild wear. The binding is good and sound. There are some crease lines to the front fep. The pages are lightly toned from age but are generally nice and clean with just some occasional light foxing and grubbiness. Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a minor stain or marking, tiny tear or chip, creased page corner, etc. Generally though, it's a good copy. The book measures approximately 8 3/4 inches by 6 inches and is 606 pages long with several black and white illustrations and a few maps. Please look at the photos to further note the condition. ********This book will require additional shipping charges if being. N° de réf. du vendeur 306920726386
