498 pages incl indices plus xv pages of preface. Text is very lightly foxed/has signs of foxing throughout, but is otherwise clean and unimpeded. End pages marbled, but a little faded and darkened with age. Boards worn at edges , heavily worn at corners and have surface wear/bad scuff 6mm diagonally across front board which is completely OFF / DETACHED, so is flyleaf, adjacent sheet and title page which is attached to board. . Spine has cross-banding and a square gilt design, but badly worn, most of top 3cm missing. Marbled end pages. The rest of binding feels strong. Book would be suitable for repair or for private reading copy for anyone needing this volume for reference.
