The introduction which is titled "Plan and Division" says "In this work we have no other aim than joining with those intelligent Governesses and sedulous Teachers, who, after having led their pupils through a regular course of French Grammar, use the most unremitting pains to make them conversant in that pleasing and useful Language." Content includes: General and particular Epistolary Notations; Fifty various Subjects proposed for French familiar Letters with Answers; A Collection of English Letters, Notes and Cards To be translated into French; Fragments of French Letters disposed as Subjects for Reading and Models for Writing; A Selection of English Words. Full leather binding, both covers are detached and are rubbed around edges and worn on corners, plain spine with dulled gilt horizontal lines, wear at head of spine and loss at base of spine.
