A propos de cet article

SASAKAWA, Akio [editor] Sasakawa Shin’ichi Collection [笹川慎一コレクション] Osaka: privately published by Sasakawa Akio, December 1939. Japanese-language collection catalogue. A substantial pre-war catalogue of the celebrated collection of Shin’ichi Sasakawa (1889–1937), documenting an important Japanese private collection of Chinese and Korean antiquities assembled during the early twentieth century. The catalogue was published shortly after Sasakawa’s death and records 146 objects from his collection. The collection ranged from early Chinese sculpture and ceramics of the Han and Northern Wei periods through later Chinese ceramics, together with Korean wares of the Goryeo and Joseon periods. Several objects formerly in the Sasakawa collection subsequently entered major museum and private collections; works from the collection continue to appear in modern scholarship and international auction catalogues. Large-format catalogue bound in reddish-brown cloth-covered boards, decorated in gilt with figures from the collection and secured with two original cloth ties at the fore-edge. Illustrated throughout with monochrome plates, with occasional colour plates, printed Japanese text and inserted correction material. Condition: Very good overall for its age. Cloth lightly rubbed and marked, with some fading to the gilt decoration. Original ties present. Internally generally clean, with some scattered foxing and age-toning. Plates remain bright and attractive. Binding sound. An uncommon and visually impressive catalogue of an important pre-war Japanese collection of East Asian art, of particular interest for Chinese ceramics, early Chinese sculpture, Korean ceramics and the history of Japanese collecting.…

Description de la boutique

I began selling books as a way to share my love and passion for collecting books with other people. I enjoy hunting for special editions, completing sets or building out a library of particular authors. The selling to me, is as enjoyable as the collecting itself. What started as a side project has since grown into a genuine passion for sourcing, researching, and sharing collectible books with fellow readers and collectors. I’m especially drawn to rare and interesting editions, first printings, and the satisfaction of completing author runs or series. Every book I list is handled with the same care and curiosity I’d want for my own shelves. I’m a strong believer in transparency. I photograph books from every angle so you know exactly what you’re getting — no surprises, no vague descriptions. I also take pride in careful packaging and presentation, because receiving a book should feel like part of the experience, not just a transaction. I’m always happy to chat about listings, bundles, shipping options, or anything else — and can almost always make something work. Don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or requests. …
