Sharron Gu is an international scholar and her original research includes many disciplines in social science, the arts and humanities. She completed her bachelor's degree in Beijing and upon graduation was posted to the Middle East. She had a successful diplomatic career as a project manager of overseas economic development. She worked for years with various international government agencies and managed multinational teams of professionals.
She returned to her academic interests in Philadelphia and earned her MA and PhD in world history at Temple University. She taught comparative history of Europe, the Middle East and Far East as a post-doctoral fellow. During this time she began to develop her unique theory of cultural development that challenged the theoretical foundation of academic establishment, and criticized its unresponsiveness to interdisciplinary and cross cultural studies. She left academia because of the ideological restraint that smothered her creative thinking and writing, the same reason that she had departed China.
She has enjoyed her freedom ever since. She has succeeded as an independent scholar and continues travel the world and passionately pursues her research and writing. She is the author of:
THE BOUNDARIES OF MEANING AND THE FORMATION OF LAW
LAW AND POLITICS IN MODERN CHINA
A CULTURAL HISTORY OF THE CHINESE LANGUAGE
LANGUAGE AND CULTURE IN THE GROWTH OF IMPERIALISM
A CULTURAL HISTORY OF THE ARABIC LANGUAGE
Her several manuscripts of world history
