This is an ex-US Department of State Reference Division copy, with stamps and number to front (including "Withdrawn" stamp), and minimal markings inside. Covers fair only, hard creased, chipped to spine, with closed tears. Interiors very good except for small perforations and marks to first few leaves. Maps neatly folded. This high level mission was sent by Sir Stafford Cripps, President of the Board of Trade, to promote British exports to Iraq, "return via Syria and Lebanon", and offer support to Cyprus. It was led by Viscount Davidson, and included Brigadier General Sir Godfrey Rhodes (Deputy Chair, Kenya and Uganda Railways and Harbours), and Brigadier General Sir A.M. Gibb (Partner in his own firm Alexander Gibb and Partners) among others. They travelled by BOAC, Iraqi State Railways, Iraqi Airways, Middle East Airlines, and by car. The Preface lists mission members, terms of reference, and a detailed itinerary). The country reports cover economy, labour and social conditions, communications, irrigation, power, agriculture, industry, commerce, consumer goods, marketing agencies, future development, with appendices on Cyprus.
