Dave Haslett

Dave Haslett lives in Devon, England, and is the founder of ideas4writers - the ideas and inspiration website - which he established in 2002.

He has a postgraduate degree in computing, and is a former member of Mensa. He won a poetry award at the age of 7 and wrote and illustrated his first book (an encyclopaedia of freshwater tropical fish) at the age of 13.

Although known primarily a non-fiction writer, he actually prefers writing fiction. His humorous short story collection The Briggs Burst is now available, and he has three humorous novels in the pipeline.

His non-fiction books include The Fastest Way to Write Your Book, The Fastest Way to Edit, Publish and Sell Your Book, The Fastest Way to Get Ideas, How to Win Short Story Competitions (co-written with Geoff Nelder), and the annual The Date-A-Base Book which lists thousands of newsworthy historical anniversaries. He has also released 35 volumes of ideas for writers.

When time allows, Dave is also a reasonably good artist and a composer of electronic music, and enjoys going on really long walks with his partner, Lorraine. It is his ambition to walk the entire coastline of the UK.
