Jean Robert

Photographe et journaliste, Jean ROBERT travaille comme grand reporter "nature" et "environnement" pour la presse française et étrangère. . Globe trotter invétéré, il a voyagé dans plus d'une centaine de pays. En vingt ans de reportages, il a aussi bien nagé avec les orques en Norvège, les tortues de Mayotte ou les baleines à bosse de Rurutu, escaladé les plus hauts sommets d'Afrique ou d'Equateur, arpenté les déserts du Sahara ou parcouru les banquises du Groenland et du Nunavut en ski et en chien de traineau.

Scientifique de formation, il a aussi réalisé des reportages "environnement" sur les problèmes de pollution à l'arsenic au Bangladesh, l'impact écologique de Tchernobyl ou la pêche à la baleine en Indonésie. Côté editions, il a rédigé les guides "Maurice, Rodrigues et Réunion" aux Editions Lonely planet

Côté perso, il habite désormais dans les montagnes du Queyras, www.chaletviso.com et rêve d'arriver à prendre en photo les loups qui sont désormais ses voisins très discrets

French photographer and journalist, Jean has stepped foot in more than 100 countries the last ten years. He was in charge of the travel section of the french magazine Terre Sauvage for 12 years He did some reports about the Chernobyl effects on the environnement, worked on the arsenic poisoning waters problems in Bangladesh and climbed Mount Kilimandjaro, Mount Kenya and Mount Ruwenzori in Ouganda to shoot the last ices of Africa.

Born in the Alps, Jean did a lot of climbing and skiing. After a master in oceanography, he worked in french polynesia on the black pearls and in aquaculture farms in the Martinique, french caribean island. In 1990, he travelled as a backpacker for one year in the Pacific and Asia and discovered his first LP guide "Tramping in New Zealand". After his return in France (without an euro left) he decided to work as free lance travel photographer and writer. Lonely Planet France sent him to Mauritius in 1999 to write the first french LP guide about this island. He was also responsible of the trekking part of "La Réunion" (a french island in the indian ocean) in 2002.
