G.R. Williamson

G.R. Williamson is a storyteller, a historian and a western writer.

Growing up in the rough brasada of South Texas, he soaked up the Mexican legends and lore told by vaqueros around campfires.

His book, The Texas Pistoleers: Ben Thompson & King Fisher, was published in 2010. The book covers the fascinating lives of two of the most feared pistol fighters of the American West. Based on extensive historical research The Texas Pistoleers tells the true story of the infamous characters and their mystery-shrouded deaths at the Vaudeville Theater in San Antonio on a chilly night on March 11, 1884.

His second book, Frontier Gambling: The Games, The Gamblers, and The Great Gambling Halls of the Old West tells the rollicking true story about gambling in the Old West. Rich in detail and jargon, yet written in an easy to understand style, the book tells the "unvarnished truth" about one of the integral facets of the American West – gambling.

Currently he is at work on a non-fiction book about the outlaw Willis Newton – the last of the old-time Texas bank and train robbers.

Ron lives in Kerrville, Texas with his wife Jean and his trusty Chihuahua, “Shooter”.
