Barry H. Young

Since his youth Barry H Young has researched the early years of American Western Folklore. The taming of this wild and beautiful land, the stories of the North American tribes, the Civil War and the code of the west caught his imagination.

Ever mindful of the famous western literature writers past and present, he humbly portrays his own interpretations of their country’s western history.

His novels are packed with absorbing action, terror, haunting mysticism, sizzling romance and heart-breaking pathos. His characters true to the time and to the land bring life and vitality to the magic of his words. His description of the sweeping grandeur and unforgettable beauty of the wild and unconquered land are pure poetry

Barry always had a passion to write but it was not until he retired that he found time to pursue his hobby.

He has now written 7 novels and many short stories including the acclaimed – The Shadow of the Wolf – Red Wind and The Snake Trail.

His novels “Shadows on the Lonesome Trail”, “River of Dreams” and “Reign of Terror” are some of his best known works. As a practicing Celebrant he has had great success with his current work “The Funeral Celebrants Handbook” which has received world acclaim being used by Celebrants in 9 world countries.

Barry Young was born in Melbourne Victoria, married to Bev, has a son and daughter and 4 grandchildren and lives in the beautiful Thurgoona Valley in rural New South Wales.

He worked for the Gas and Fuel Corporation of Victoria rising to the Director of Sales and Marketing and was awarded the highest distinction “The Gas Flame Meritorious Medal” for service to the Australian Gas Industry.

Barry was a former president and Director of the Melbourne, Heidelberg, Mill Park and Thomastown Y M C A‘s and was a former Worshipful Master of the Freemasons Philatelic Lodge.

Currently Barry is a long serving board member and Community Service Director of the Albury-Hume Rotary Club and is a recipient of the Paul Harris Medal.

Barry was awarded an OAM “Order of Australia” in 2008 New Year’s honors for his service to the community through support for a range of youth, service and aged care and grief counseling.
