Hovik Vardumyan

Hovik Vardumyan was born on July 26th, in 1940, in Tchotchkan village of Lori marz (province). He graduated from Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1970.

His works have been published since 1964. When the national-liberation war started in 1989, he became a soldier fighting for independence. He returned to the world of literature after the war. The first book after the war– “That’s How the Eagles Die” story, was published in 1997. Then, collections of stories and documentary books were published one after another.

He has been awarded literary prizes by the Writers’ Union and other establishments. His works have been translated into English, Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Persian, Kazakh, Serbian and Georgian. At the end of 2009 the collection of stories “The Immortal” was translated into French and published on the order of “L’ Harmattan” publishing house in France.
