Dr. Carol JVF Burns

Since 1999, Dr. Carol JVF Burns has spent more than 11,000 hours creating about 400 free online math lessons ranging from arithmetic to calculus (http://www.onemathematicalcat.org). She shared her passion for mathematics in the classroom for about 30 years in both high schools and universities, before going on to reach the world via her website. The ideas in her first published book, "One Mathematical Cat, Please!" have been embraced by thousands of students: that understanding the *language of math* is key to giving it meaning. Carol grew up amongst the big trees of western Massachusetts, and now loves her country life in Arizona (complete with chickens, quail, bobcats, javelina, and lots of dangerous AZ vegetation)!
