Dr. Velma Bagby

Dr. Velma admits she did not set out to publish a book; although Christian dating, relationships & marriage have always been areas dear to her heart. Dr. Velma is sought-after minister, motivational speaker, bible teacher and respected Certified Christian Relationship Coach to singles and married couples and member of the AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors/Coaches). She retired from a 38-year career with the State of California, leaving her position as Deputy Division Chief Administrator; where she provided organizational leadership, program development/management, continuous improvement, career coaching, staff and training development. She was responsible for over 100 staff and 10 Workforce Services One-Stop Centers.

Dr. Velma's book, “Your Adam is Asleep Until God Opens His Eyes, answers her daughters’ pressing questions about men, marriage, and how to prepare for both in life and serves as her go-to relationship guide for Christian singles and married couples. She uses the marriage of Adam and Eve as a foundation and her own 46 years of marriage. This book is inspirational and a call to action to women, of God’s original intent concerning marriage.

In 2019, she had two releases about her personal testimony to find love in high school; a kindle story called "My 70s Love Story" and book entitled, "Back in the Day Anthology". Dr. Velma joins eight other writers whose stories center around the 70s. Dr. Velma tells how life in the 70s was simple, dating was for fun and guys were more respectable. The book is available now on her website, on Amazon and at local book stores.

Dr. Velma is Founder of Adoni Publishing LLC and her upcoming projects will be her first under Adoni: A book written with her granddaughter entitled "The Little Letter K and the Boring Alphabet Line" due in August 2020. Her book "A Place Called Down - Why Christians Suffer, which speaks tests and trials and are not always from evil, but designed by God. Release date is 8/21/20. Future projects include: If The Fish Aren't Biting, Its Time to Change the Bait" and more.

Dr. Velma makes her home in northern California with her husband and Pastor Dr. Bruce. She and her husband have two daughters, a son-in-law and three grandchildren.
