Terri Inskip

I'm an Essex girl, born in Dagenham in 1948. My book is a memoir from my early years up to December 1977. It also covers my experience in the wrens and ten years of long distance sailing that includes a life-changing accident in the second year. I am absolutely chuffed I have achieved writing this memoir as it has been on my bucket list for many years. Having at long last the time to complete it, is one good thing that has come out of Covid 19 for me!

I am now in my seventies but still remain very active and enjoy living life to the full. I love playing pickleball and am a member of the Runnymede Royals Pickleball Club, which currently has the largest membership for this sport in England. I manage their website: www.runnymederoyals.org.uk. During Covid 19 lockdown, in addition to keeping myself busy getting my book published, I was able to make use of my sewing skills by converting many duvet covers into scrubs for our local hospital and care homes. Peppa Pig and Super Heroes ones were particular favourites!

In 1983 I married Pete, and whilst living in Hong Kong our daughter Jane was born, followed by Andrew four years later back in Ascot. They are now both married and between them have produced three beautiful grandsons that keep us on our toes. We currently live on the Surrey/Hampshire border and are fortunate to have the Basingstoke Canal at the bottom of our garden. Crying out to have a boat, we have succumbed, and although it's not a sailing yacht (just a tad difficult sailing along a canal!) we have a 22 foot cabin cruiser that is rather like camping on water when it comes to accommodation. But hey, it enables us to potter up and down our beautiful canal in a very pleasant and convenient way and was a real blessing during Covid lockdown.

Many readers have asked me what happened next after my return to UK in 1977. Not wanting to write another book, I have opted to set up my own website/blog. On there you will find, under the tag 'Okay, So What's Next' on-going memoir chapters that I intend adding on a fairly regular basis. You will also see there is a gallery where I have included all the photos from the book. Check it out - www.terrichat.co.uk and hope to see you in the chat room.
