Philippa Gordon-Gould

Philippa Gordon-Gould (nee Bourne): BA (Hons); SpLD (Dip); PGCE (MFL); NASENCO. Having lived and worked in the US and Europe for many years, Philippa now works as a freelance teacher and Special Educational Needs consultant in East Anglia. Her first degree was in music which she studied at the University of Leeds before completing further post graduate studies in flute at the Conservatoire in Lille, France. After a number of years, teaching music and children with Dyslexia while raising a family, she trained to be a classroom teacher in 2008 at Christchurch University in Canterbury and later completed the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination. She has a passionate commitment to ensuring that children with special educational needs are appropriately supported in mainstream schools ands other appropriate settings to meet their needs effectively. She has collaborated with Professor Garry Hornby and other research specialists in the field to improve the connection between research and practice. Her aim has been to promote a greater global understandng of what support is required for children with educational needs in order for them to be effectively included in the enterprise of learning in each nation.
