Doug White

Doug Whites’ professional art career began in 1966 while still attending art college. Hired as a junior apprentice to a successful drawing professor in his busy commercial studio. This sin gular experience convinced him to make drawing a Life long commitment and career.

Commercial art- 1966 to 1985

That experience was six decades ago. A career was created from a simple and singular desire to earn a living involving the process of drawing and rendering the figure (and everything else). into the world of Advertising, design, art direction. Commercial illustration and studio ownership. Doug worked to build a reputation as a competent and professional artist over that twenty year period and to find a place in the world of advertising for the commercial artists first tool- drawing.

Those twenty years in the art business itself provided an opportunity to draw and render each day. It also created a chance at two new careers.

Fine art and teaching- From 1980 to the present

While passing on his craft of drawing and rendering to over six thousand students in a twenty seven year career (1980-2007) at

George Brown College’s “School of Design”. Doug has worked on personal artistic development as a Canadian landscape painter. Creating scenes of rural Ontario in watercolor and oil.
