Dr Michael K. Musgrave is a natural capital, conservation and sustainable-finance specialist with more than 25 years of experience working across Africa. His work spans wildlife conservation, forestry, carbon markets, biodiversity finance, sustainable development and institutional capacity-building.
He has worked with conservation organisations, governments, communities, businesses and educational institutions in more than 30 African countries. His work is grounded in the belief that Africa’s biodiversity should be valued not only as a global heritage, but as a foundation for local rights, livelihoods, enterprise and long-term prosperity.
Michael is the founder of Newt Natural Capital and the School of Natural Capital. He writes and teaches on conservation, natural capital, carbon finance, biodiversity and the changing relationship between people, wildlife and landscapes in Africa. He has consistently made a call for a more confident, ethically grounded and African-led future for conservation.
