R A Hewitt

R A Hewitt is a British science-fiction author, CTO, programmer, systems architect and former graphic designer with more than twenty-five years of experience spanning art, technology and engineering.

He first learned to program on a ZX Spectrum, later moving to the Amiga, and began his career in graphic design and early web development before progressing into mathematics, software engineering and large-scale systems architecture.

His fiction brings those disciplines together. The Optimiser Trilogy explores artificial intelligence, optimisation, consciousness and the human cost of systems that become too efficient for the people living inside them. Its first novel, The Universe Without Noise, asks what remains of humanity when every decision, every life and every thought can be perfected.

He lives in the United Kingdom.
