Dr. Vladi Dvoyris

Vladi Dvoyris was born in Ukraine in 1983 and immigrated to Israel with his family as a child. He is the last of four generations of physicians — a lineage that begins with a great-grandmother who treated teeth without anesthesia. He studied dentistry through Israel's Academic Reserve program, served as a military dentist, and spent fifteen years in practice before moving into software development for the dental and medical industries. He has also worked as a Hebrew–Russian–English translator for film and television.

In the weeks after October 7, 2023, he was mobilized as a reserve dentist and assigned to the Israeli military's central casualty-identification facility at Camp Shura. For eleven weeks, his work was to turn numbers on body bags back into names. He kept a diary. Two years later, it became a book.

The Bottom Line was published in Hebrew in 2026 and reviewed in Israel's three major newspapers. Haaretz wrote that it "differs from the many October 7th books... because the writer leaves emotion outside the base." It is a memoir about rites of passage — what makes us doctors, officers, Israelis, Jews, and human beings — and it is, unexpectedly, often very funny.

He lectures on the book to organizations, medical teams, and communities in Hebrew, English, and Russian. He lives in Israel. This is his first book.
