Souk Phaiboun

Souk Phaiboun is an Early Childhood Teacher, children’s author, and creator of Eco Ocean Kindy, with more than 15 years of experience supporting young children, families, educators, and early learning communities.

Throughout her work with children, Souk has developed a deep appreciation for the importance of social and emotional development in the early years. She believes children learn best when they feel safe, respected, understood, and supported to express their emotions.

Through Eco Ocean Kindy, Souk brings together storytelling, social-emotional learning, nature, creativity, and care for our oceans and planet. Her work is designed to create meaningful opportunities for parents and educators to talk with children about feelings, kindness, resilience, friendship, problem-solving, and emotional regulation.

Her first children’s book, Rocky and the Big Angry Wave: Big Feelings Under the Sea, follows Rocky through a moment of disappointment and anger and gently explores what can happen when big feelings take over. Through breathing, supportive relationships, reflection, apology, and teamwork, Rocky discovers that difficult feelings can be understood and managed.

Souk believes that children’s emotional foundations are built little by little—with patience, connection, respectful guidance, and love.

Through Eco Ocean Kindy, she hopes to help children grow into confident, compassionate, and emotionally aware individuals while developing a lifelong connection with nature and our oceans.
