Erik Michelsen

Erik Michelsen is an engineer, inventor, and lifelong technology enthusiast with a passion for understanding how things work — and explaining them in a way that makes sense.

Through the *How It Works with Leo & Maya* series, Erik introduces young readers to the fascinating world of science, engineering, machines, and technology.

With colorful illustrations, curious questions, and easy-to-understand explanations, Leo and Maya explore everything from why enormous ships can float to how powerful excavators use hydraulics to lift and dig.

Erik believes that engineering doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes, all it takes is curiosity and the courage to ask:

**“But how does it actually work?”**

His books are created for curious kids — and for the parents, grandparents, and teachers who enjoy discovering the answers with them.
