I am the author of Long Grass Calling: A Fortunate Childhood, a memoir reflecting on childhood, family and resilience.

I became a letter writer at the age of eight in 1967. My first letters were to my grandfather. Over time, these letters evolved into short stories especially when I was at boarding school into my early adult years. At the age of twenty-four I sat down at a typewriter to see if I could write a book. While my mother was impressed I felt my work lacked an authenticity gained through life experience. So, putting away the typewriter, I went out and got a life.

Thirty years later, sitting at a keyboard instead of a typewriter, I let my fingers do the talking. The idea of the Long Grass Trilogy was conceived, and from it Long Grass Calling: A Fortunate Childhood was born.
