Daniel Cross

Daniel Cross, a former Silicon Valley technology insider, walked away from the industry after becoming increasingly concerned about the speed and direction of artificial intelligence.

What began as fascination with rapidly improving AI systems gradually became something harder to ignore. The technology was advancing faster than most people outside the industry seemed to realize, while the ambitions behind it were becoming increasingly clear: artificial general intelligence, and ultimately, superintelligence.

Cross eventually left Silicon Valley because he could no longer dismiss the possibility that the race to build ever-more-powerful AI was moving faster than society’s ability to understand, govern, or control what was being created.

Today, he writes about artificial intelligence, technological power, and the consequences of pursuing systems that could eventually surpass human intelligence. His work examines the incentives driving the AI race, the companies competing to lead it, and the risks society may face if technological capability continues to advance faster than our ability to respond.

He wrote AI Will Kill Us All because he believes the most important questions about AI need to be asked now—not after the systems have become too powerful to meaningfully change course.
